ChromeOS – Google announced its own netbook-an operating system
Google wants to reinvent the operating system and start to “Google Chrome Operating System”. It is Google’s attempt to re-think about it, has to look like an operating system. Finally, today’s operating systems were created in a time when the Web did not exist.
Quick, easy and safe will it be, Google’s new operating system for netbooks, a sleek open-source operating under the name ChromeOS. Later this year, Google plans to publish the code of ChromeOS as open source. In the second half of 2010, then first netbooks with preinstalled ChromeOS come on the market.
Google works with several partners in terms ChromeOS already, soon will the open source community are involved.
The user interface is kept to a minimum so that it is not in the path. The focus should eventually lie on the web. The Web is the platform, Google, and means with the applications for ChromeOS run in the browser.
Like Google Chrome will also ChromeOS the fundamental things lend a hand and design the underlying security architecture again. The users will need to worry about viruses, malware and security updates, what the browser Chrome, despite its new security architecture that is not quite true.
Google ChromeOS will run on both x86 processors and ARM chips.
The architecture describes Google as a very simple ChromeOS consists of the Chrome browser, which runs under a new windowing system. As a Linux kernel is used. Since the applications for ChromeOS pure web applications, they will be usable on other operating systems with a standards-compliant browser.
With Google’s Android smartphone operating system ChromeOS to have little in common. The pipeline must be a separate project, which aims to computers – from the netbook to desktop PC – are used. Nevertheless, there will be overlaps between the two systems.
